From a Brisbane-themed shortlist provided by Steve, we chose the new novel by Nick Earles, The True Story of Butterfish.
We met at Tim and Wendy's place.
Leigha brought the shortlist, with a movie & book theme.
Ratings (out of 17):
Wendy: 14 - enjoyed, ripped through quickly
Maree: 11 - wasn't anything she hated but it didn't really come together for her. Liked the Brisbane setting the best.
Leigha: 10 - Needed more punch, not a ripsnorter.
Steve: 12 - Enjoyed the book but didn't think it was worth the premium price tag! Would have been happy to pay $18
Ellie: 12 - Liked the characters, read it in a couple of hours. Liked Earles' conversational writing style. Good summer book!
Tim: 13 - Liked the book overall. Alternately loved and cringed at the overt Brisbaneness of it.
Average: 12
