We met at Maree's place on 3 June 2012 to discuss the genre-changing Brighton Rock by Graham Greene, thanks to Leigha's short list inspired by Roald Dahl's Matilda.
Ratings (out of 17):
Nicole - 10 wish we picked another book - thinks she I went into it thinking he was a criminal mastermind but he's just too young and out of his depth.
James - 11 - as a character study really well done, scared of new experiences, all the bluster and not wanting to learn from others, despising other people who know more than him. Not the detective novel we all expected
Roshni - 11 not what I expected but not a book I would have otherwise read so glad I've read it and experienced it. Not a traditional crime novel, 80% about the psychology of this guy.
Maree - 11
Steve - 9 not finished and not motivated to finish reading
Wendy - 12 quite enjoying it and will finish it
Leigha - 10 almost half way and will finish but knows that she's not going to enjoy it
Tim - 6
