book forty: Let's Pretend This Never Happened

We met at Nicole's place to discuss this novel by The Bloggess - aka Jenny Lawson.  The book was from Nicole's shortlist.

Scores:

Maree - would have enjoyed it more if read over a longer period rather than rushing in last 4 days. But it annoyed me and made me laugh all on the one page.  14

Leigha - also 13. Enjoyed it more as book went on and we got to know her character more. Book improved over time as she relaxed into the writing.  Laughed out  loud at the frisbee plate episode.

Nicole - 13 also. I enjoyed it, it's not quality literature but it's funny and enjoyable. I liked Beyonce the chicken.

Roshni -14 because it makes my life feel more normal.

Wendy - 14 it was enjoyable and light and definitely laugh out loud at points. Liked the chicken and the conversation about her stopping work and the deal being that she would clean the house.

Note - Nicole mentioned that she has subsequently had a breakdown of some kind.

Jim - 12 - enjoyed it but it didn't quite work in some ways because it was written by someone who was dysfunctional but then written in a way which understood all her faults.

Mari - 15 - 13 because it was funny but 2 bonus points because she has gone against literary fiction.

Tim - 15 also. I'm angry with Mari for taking my score.

Maree would like to up to 15 also but wouldn't want to upset Tim.
